Ari Lennox
Courtney Shanade Salter, born March 26, 1991, and professionally referred to as Ari Lennox, hails from Washington, D.C. and is the debut female to be signed by J. Cole's Dreamville Records label. The first album she released from the label on October 21 of 2016, entitled Pho, and she gained recognition. Shea Butter Baby is her debut album. The album was released in May 2019. Ari Lennox posted her debut music online in 2012. Her first album was five singles in 2013 and Five Finger Discount in 2013 and Ariography EP in 2013. In 2014, she debuted further music online including Bound. In 2015, she appeared on Omen's Elephant Eyes Album, performing the track Sweat It Out on the 21st of July. In the following year, her music began to circulate around the Dreamville team because J. Cole wanted her to work with him on some of the references for Rihanna. She was officially signed by Dreamville Records on 8 December. The singer appeared in the album collaboration Revenge of the Dreamers II which featured the track Backseat alongside Cozz. She dropped Pho, her debut album on October 21 on the 21st of October in 2016. Ari Lennox then appeared as the opening artist to J. Cole on his song Change in 2017, and appeared on the 4 Your Eyez Only Tour. The following year, she went on to be a guest in two songs featuring her label-mates EarthGang on Nothing but the Best and Bas on Icarus. Ari Lennox's debut album Shea Butter Baby was released on the 16th of July, 2018. The debut single, Whipped Cream From the album came out September 5, 2018 with the music video. Then, in November, she released singles 40 Shades of Choke & Grampa. In November 13, she released two more singles: No One and Pedigree. Later, she was featured to the Creed II soundtrack with Cole on a track called Shea Butter Baby on November 16 and released as a single on February 26th, 2019 to accompany her debut album with the same name. The music video premiered on the 20th of February to accompany the track. Within a week, the video had more than 3,000,000 views. In December of 2018, she was a supporting act on the From East Atlanta With Love Tour with 6LACK.
